FAQ

Search or filter by category.

What exactly does WorksetIsolator do?
It temporarily isolates elements by workset in the active view, and builds a full hierarchy by Workset, Category, Family Type, and Element for navigation and export.
Does it permanently change my view or model?
No. Isolation uses Temporary Hide/Isolate and is reversible via Restore View or Revit temporary mode controls. It does not reassign worksets or modify element properties.
Can I isolate more than one workset at the same time?
Yes. Workset selection supports multi-select, so you can isolate several worksets together.
Which view types are supported?
Isolation is blocked in Schedules, Sheets, and Legends. Most model views are supported when Revit allows Temporary Hide/Isolate.
Why does Family Type show "N/A" for some elements?
Some elements are not FamilyInstances, or they do not expose a symbol name in that context. Those entries are labeled "N/A" by design.
I selected a workset but nothing isolated. What happened?
Common reasons:
  • The selected workset has no elements visible in the active view
  • You are in an unsupported view type (Schedule, Sheet, Legend)
  • No worksets were selected
I clicked an element, but it did not zoom/select.
That usually means the element is not visible in the current view. Switch to a view where the element is visible and try again.
Why are some categories missing from the tree?
The add-in intentionally filters out annotation, analytical, and non-target/internal categories to keep the hierarchy focused on actionable model content.
What does the Excel export include?
The .xlsx file includes:
  • Workset Elements: Workset, Category, Family Type, Element Name, Element ID
  • Summary: Workset with total element count
Does it slow down large projects?
On very large files, hierarchy generation can take noticeable time. This is expected because model elements are scanned and grouped before the tree is displayed.
